About the Inter-Ministerial Technical Committee - National Council for Nutrition (Ministry of Planning)
The National Council for Nutrition (NCN), based at the Ministry of Planning, is the lead agency and nucleus for the formulation of a nutrition policy in Cambodia. The NCN is supported in its work by the Inter-Ministerial Technical Committee (IMTC), which is composed of 17 nutrition focal points from key Line Ministries. The role of the IMTC is:
-To promote the effectiveness of technical work and research on national and international policies and experiences with regard to nutrition;
-To prepare policies, plans and strategies on nutrition and submit to the National Council for Nutrition for Approval;
-To coordinate with Ministries, institutions, NGOs, national and international organizations who are actively supporting nutrition activities;
-To compile and prepare progress reports on nutrition (CNIP) and submit to the National Council for Nutrition.
IMTC members meet on a quarterly basis to report on progress, to plan future actions and to contribute to and endorse yearly work plans with regard to nutrition. Donors and NGOs involved in nutrition also participate in IMTC meetings.
