Title:

Poverty And Vulnerability Analysis Mapping In Cambodia.

Abstract:

The summary presents the results of a broad poverty analysis and mapping refinement exercise conducted by WFP and the RGC throughout 2002. The refinement exercise included analysis and mapping of four key areas: poverty (determined on the basis of consumption expenditure); nutrition; education needs; and vulnerability to droughts and floods. The analyses have been based on various methodologies ranging from sophisticated techniques such as the “small areas estimation technique” to simple statistical analyses. To ensure accuracy of the outputs and nationwide coverage, various large scale data sets such as the Cambodia Socio-Economic Survey (CSES) 1997, Cambodia Demographic and Health Survey (CDHS) 2000, Population Census 1998, and geographical information systems (GIS) data have been extensively used. In fact, this is the first time in Cambodia that such analyses have been conducted at such a geographically disaggregated level as the commune or district.
