Iron Deficiency Anemia (IDA) Prevention and Control in Pre-School

IDA (Iron Deficiency Anaemia) is a major problem in Cambodia. In 2002 the prevalence of IDA in children was 63% and in pregnant women 77%. There is currently no national policy, which address the problem of iron deficiency anaemia in children. The Cambodian Nutrition Investment Plan (CNIP) emphasises the need to deal with this neglected issue in the near future.

In this context, a workshop on IDA prevention and control in pre-school children comprising relevant organisations and institutions in Cambodia was organized on 11 and 12th of February 2003 in Phnom Penh in the NIPH.
