Final National Workshop on Nutrition Component

FAO EUFF Project “Improve the food security of farming families affected by volatile food prices – GCP/CMB/033/EC” has been formulated to support small-scale interventions at the community level. The major project components include sustainable crop production water management and post harvest activities; vegetable production; fisheries and nutrition, supported by capacity building and policy development. The overall objective of the nutrition component of the project is to improve dietary diversity and family feeding practices, starting with Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF), of rural populations affected by the volatile food prices, who are currently benefiting from FAO EU Food Facility Project support for food security enhancement.

The objectives of the workshop are to:

  • Update progress on nutrition component
  • Present achievement, success and lessons learned, and limitations during the project implementation
  • Discuss possible options and actions to ensure the continuation of activities with a view to longer term sustainability after the project phasing out
  • Prepare a plan of action for future activities after the phasing out of the project

Workshop participants

Workshop participants are being drawn from provincial and district departments of  Agriculture, Women’s Affairs and Health and central level representatives of MoWA, MAFF-GDA, MoH-NNP, CARD, HKI, UNICEF, WHO, WFP, GRET, EU and USAID
