Training Course on Food Security and Nutrition in Kong Pisey, Kompong Speu on 17-19 November 2010

The Council for Agricultural and Rural Development (CARD is conducting a three-day Training Course on Food Security and Nutrition (FSN) in Kong Pisey District, Kompong Speu Province, on 17-19 November 2010, in order to equip planners and decision-makers at the sub-national level with understanding and knowledge on basic concept of FSN.

 

Therefore, the main objectives of the training are to enable the participants to:

  • Understand the basic concept on Food Security and Nutrition (FSN) and become aware of the importance of FSN for any further provincial development,
  • Know about the analysis and assessment instruments and data sources,
  • Identify intervention strategies and action for improved FSN in their areas, and
  • Integrate FNS aspects into provincial strategies and plans

The training is supported by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) under the framework of the Joint Programme for Children, Food Security and Nutrition in Cambodia which is aimed at reducing mortality and undernutrition among vulnerable populations, children 0–24 months and pregnant and lactating women in two food-insecure provinces of Cambodia: Kompong Speu and Svay Rieng.
