Scientific conference: How to support agricultural development while conserving natural resources and alleviating poverty in Cambodia and South-East Asia countries?

In the framework of the second edition of the Environment week, supported by the French Embassy, the Royal University of Agriculture of Cambodia (RUA) will organize a scientific seminar entitled "how to support agricultural development while conserving natural resources and alleviating poverty in Cambodia and South-East Asian countries?" and will be held on June 3, 2009 at RUA, Phnom Penh.

 

The Objectives of the Seminar
The conference aimed at contributing answering the following question by introducing technical or institutional solutions that link the three aspects of sustainable agricultural development:
How to support agricultural development while conserving natural resources and alleviating poverty in Cambodia and South-East Asia countries?

This conference targets lecturers and researchers, policy-makers and other stakeholders involved in the relevant fields such as NGOs, private companies and donors in Cambodia and the region. A limited number of students of RUA and other Cambodian Universities will also attend the seminar.

The conference will include different presentations of regional and national experts. First, presentations will first introduce the theoretical framework and key environmental and agricultural issues and policies in South-East Asian countries. Then, experts will focus on technical and institutional systems or solutions linking development and environment. A specific focus will be made on environmental services and their payment. The papers will be published in RUA and RUA partners' websites.
