Project Description

The principal objectives of  the Older People Association(OPA) program are:

  • Older People’s Associations (OPAs) aim to improve the dignity and quality of life of older people by encouraging support from their peers{comma} families and younger people.
  • The OPA encourages increased social interaction by providing a forum where older people can meet to discuss their problems{comma} develop solutions and celebrate important holidays and events.
  • The OPA promotes mutual help for vulnerable older people within and outside the association.
  • The OPA also provides social support and activities to improve the livelihoods of older people and their families.

The activities we propose to include in the Older People Association(OPA) project are as follows:

  • Rice Bank: The first OPA has capital of rice seed in OPA itself{comma} members of OPA pay fee to OPA to become as membership. Organization just provides rice seed to OPA to support rice bank's activities{comma} to give rice seed to members of OPA. Members of OPA loan rice seed and pay back both interest rate and original capital of rice to OPA for per year. And OPA will be usedinterestas follows:
  • 60% will be added to the original capital.
  • 20% will be provided to OPA committee members to thank them for their leadership and work.
  • 5% will serve as insurance against the loss of rice during extended storage periods.
  • 5% will cover the costs of administrative work.
  • 10% will serve as insurance in case of emergency expenses.
  • Cow bank: We provide cows to OPA; the OPA gives cows to members{comma} and first calf gives members who waiting for{comma} and second calf provide to owner and third calf provide to OPA. And then after giving calf cow to OPA{comma} the owner will get that firstly older cow.
  • Agriculture: We provide trainings on Integrated Farmer System (IFS)/Integrated Pest Management (IPM) to OPA members; furthermore{comma} we provide vegetable and rice seed with high quality seed. We also provide machine of water-sun too.  
  • Success Case Replication (SCR): for small business{comma} we provide training by success case; although{comma} we provide grant capital for starting their business.
  • Home Care: We select home based care volunteers in order to care older persons{comma} we also provide training on health care{comma} water and sanitation{comma} and nutrition for older persons. In this activity{comma} we provide Health Camp{comma} by cooperating with health center every two months to OPA members.

Support A Grant(SAG): We provide grant to older persons who vulnerable{comma} every three months for them.
