Project Description

KWCD runs two projects in Kampot province{comma} in partnership with Heifer International Cambodia. The projects work with vulnerable families to provide participants with resources required to decreased social vulnerability{comma} improve food security and generate more income to support their families{comma} leading to increased livelihoods.

Working with self-help groups (SHG){comma} families are provided with livestock along with agricultural support such as fodder and forage seeds{comma} saplings and vegetable seeds for home gardening. Project participants recieve training on Heifer’s 12 Cornerstones{comma} self-help group management and leadership{comma} improved animal management{comma} home gardening and organic farming{comma} HIV/AIDS and literacy education. Village animal health workers are also trained to provide animal services in their communities. At the end of each project year{comma} with the assistance of community facilitators{comma} the original SHGs form new SHGs for “passing on the gifts”{comma} ensuring each familiy who recieved an original package of inputs pass it on{comma} along with their knowledge and experience to the new formed groups.
