The project goal is to contribute to the eradication of poverty and hunger though improved food security and enhanced livelihood options for subsistence rice farmers and to promote the sustainable use of natural resources.


The objectives of the project are:

·       Improve the agricultural production of subsistence

farmer families through the promotion of integrated ricebased farming and animal husbandry

·       Build the capacity of farmers and farmer organizations

for delivering development services to community

members{comma} commune councils{comma} and other organizations 

·       Strengthen farmer groups in market-oriented agricultural

development and production diversification 


Project activities: 

Result 1: Farmers are able to increase their agricultural production and income through the implementation and practice the ecological agriculture techniques.

·      Capacity building for experimenting farmers

·      Organizing exchange visits for cooperating farmers

·      Organizing thematic workshops (rice farmers{comma} chicken farmers{comma} home gardening farmers{comma} Multi Purpose Farm farmers & fish farmers)

·      Funding support for constructing demonstration farms and others

·      Distribution of learning materials (farmer magazine{comma} technical booklets{comma} etc.)

Result 2: Farmer promoters and farmer’s association leaders will improve their capacity to deliver agriculture technical to community members{comma} commune councils{comma} and other organizations.

·      Training and coaching for district service provider members

·      Building the capacity of village based farmer association leaders

·      Training and coaching of village-based saving animators (VSA)

·      Training and coaching for representatives of confederation of saving association (CSA)

·      Funding support for DSP in conducting farmer group training and meeting

Result 3: The actions and impact of farmer producer groups will be strengthened in community agri-business and improving access to market.

·      Organizing the meeting among the representatives of organic rice producer group and Sahakreas CEDAC

·      Training and coaching of organic rice production inspectors

·      Training and coaching of the board of directors and internal inspectors of agricultural cooperatives

·      Training and meeting for organic vegetable producers

Result 4: The participation of women as community leaders and in local development will be increased.

·      Training and meeting for woman group leaders

·      Organization of woman forum at commune level


Result 5: Local stakeholders will have an increased understanding about participatory development and family-based ecological agriculture and will be able and willing to dialog and network with village-based farmer organizationsand its networks.
